NAME: Doug Reynolds
CANDIDATE FOR: W.Va. State House 16
PARTY: Democrat
CITY: Huntington
STATEMENT: "What is right with West Virginia can overcome and fix what is wrong. In my two terms I have tried to bring idealism and energy to solving problems on behalf of my constituents. You can accomplish anything if you don't care who gets credit.
First, we have to continue to improve the business climate by reducing regulation and giving local communities more tools to recruit and develop businesses. Second, we need to improve our educational attainment of our students so that they will be qualified for the jobs of the future."
QUESTION & ANSWER: What suggestions do you have for ways that WV can gain both jobs and economic development in the growing market for renewable energy sources?
"First, we need to use the resources that are under utilized, that is why I advocated coal-bed methane and coal waste should be included as renewable energy sources in our alternative energy portfolio we enacted last year. Second, we have to continue the responsible development of our natural gas resources."
